An allegory of the music industry? Weirdly enough, the Cat Piano, or Cat Organ, was an actual instrument in the 17th Century.
The film’s graphic 2D look is achieved by animating the entire film by hand in Adobe Photoshop, drawing with Wacom tablets directly into the computer. Nick Cave as narrator was a perfect choice to complement the poem inspired by the beat poet era.
