I’m reminded of Daffy Duck, the assertive, unrestrained, and combative protagonist of Looney Tunes.  It’s like my family lineage came from a line of Daffy Ducks.

When you are a woman and have the assertive, unrestrained, combative gene in a society that frowns upon this trait in a woman, how do you thrive? You try to suppress your natural instincts, damaging your soul in ways you don’t even realize. Suppression is like twisting a knot in a hose. The water builds up the pressure and either combust or leaks out in a variety of other places.

It’s time to show up and not be told to shush up.
